Values for model electric trains rise or fall is different economic conditions. Major manufacturers such as Lionel, Marx and American Flyer were steadily manufactured 50 years ago. Not all model trains are valuable. The value of an electric train can be improved by having a popular manufactured train in sell-able condition. Other factors that improve the value are the original box in good condition, as-well-as a working power-supply/transformer. The track itself holds no real value.
No. Lionel is approximately O gauge (1/4 inch to the foot) and S gauge is 3/16 inch to the foot. Lionel has taken a number of liberties in "scaling" their models - some are quite close to accurate but most are not.
