I don't think you can actually water-proof Masonite, unless you completely seal it in some kind of plastic. You can, however make it water resistant with a good Spar Varnish, Masonite comes to you in several forms, I suggest the type that is smooth on both top an bottom, also, tempered. Apply 2 or 3 coats on each side, (pay close attention to the edges, this will be the problem areas) the edges is usually where the moisture will come in. TIP: If this will be outside or exposed to sun-light, get Spar Varnish with UV inhibitors.

∙ 11y agoNo, it is not, and it will deteriorate over time with high humidity/water and exposure to weather/elements. - To be made weather proof, it has to be coated with an oil based paint or clear coat, both faces and edges.
