Standard (analog and digital) cannot. However, cable subscribers could be among those that can have that info returned to the cable company. Satellite subscribers could also fall in that category when the receiver makes it's scheduled call-in to the satellite provider in a pre-scheduled basis if you have it connected to the phone line.

∙ 15y agoNo. The TV signal transmitted by your service provider is a mishmash of information spread out on different frequencies. All channels are sent down the cable simultaneously, and your TV views different channels by filtering out all but a specific frequency. Your TV never sends a signal to the provider requesting a particular channel. Rather, the provider is constantly sending all channels at the same time, so there is no way for them to know which one you are looking at.
