Absolutely. Any kind of horse can go barefoot. Shoes are not manditory.
Yes, Tennessee Walking Horses are among the most versatile breeds and can be used for everything-however, they are probably not the best breed to be going to the highest levels with-not saying that they cannot. If you find a TWH witht he correct build for a jumping horse, you could go to the top with it with the correct training.
Not exactly.i have a walking horses and mine is very hyper only because it is stil a baby but my sister has one and it is the calmest horse ever.if you are looking for a laid back horse i would go with the quarter or trotting horse. It just depends on its training.hope this helps.
By walking horse I assume you mean the Tennessee Walking horse. I find that my TWH (and many other horses of other breeds) prefer bitless bridles, but bosals aren't good for walking horses because of their head action. The bottom tends to come up and hit them when they move their head, or so I've heard. I ride in a halter, and you can also get the Bitless Bridle. But other than the bosal, Walking horses will go in anything. If I have to have a bit I prefer a snaffle because it's so gentle, and the horses seem to like it better too.
I think that the modes of travel in the sahel are horses, camels, and walking.
Like all animals, they have their own personality, but in general they are very sweet. Answer2: Tennessee walkers have always been bred to be very willing and sweet tempered horses. Walkers are some of the most even tempered horses as far as purebreds go. However there are those within the breed that fall outside the norm (just like with any breed). Remember all horses are individuals and may not understand that the breed standard says that they're supposed to be sweet and willing.

The major form of transport are cars ,airplanes and to a lesser extent boats and trains. The major transportation of the 1850's are horses, wagons, trains and again, boats to a lesser extent. Go further back in time and horses were the main form of transpotation. But in the Native Americans , who originally had no horses used dogs. Go even further back and walking was the main form of transportation.

Quarter horses are known for being very level headed. I find Tennessee Walking horses to be very nice horses too. And Draft breeds are the gentle giants, with very calm, gentle temperaments, but drafts are often very big. And don't limit your search to only a few breeds. While for the most part, hotblooded breeds (like arabian, thoroughbreds, etc.) aren't good for beginners, there are some exceptions with very calm thoroughbreds and arabians. And with generally calm breeds, there will be some very high spirited individuals. So, don't go by breed, but rather by the individual horse.
