I would say that its a good idea to get a 13amp plug/lead for it. Though a 6amp fused plug and lead will work the cable may not be rated for more than 6amps. If fuses start popping it will be tempting to just put a 13amp fuse in it. This would be a hazard if the lead is in question. This maybe me being overly careful. It may also be a good idea to P.A.T. (Portable appliance tests) the unit, Earth bond and insulation tests. If you have access to the equipment and have the know-how. This is being extra careful and is not necessary but if there is a problem it would narrow down the probable cause.
