In the state of Florida, if you are 17 and want to marry, but don't have parental consent, then you can apply for a license if the pregnancy has been verified by a written statement from a doctor. A county court judge then decides rather or not to issue a license for them to marry. And he does have the option of denying it. A pregnancy is not an automatic guarantee that the couple will be allowed to marry, it simply allows them the option of asking the court for approval.

Personally, I hate these laws because I think they tend to promote teen-age pregnancy, but nevertheless it is the law, so there you are.

In most jurisdictions, it is the consent of the couple's parents rather than whether the bride is pregnant that decided whether 16- or 17-year olds can marry. Though in some countries like Scotland you can marry at 16 without parental cosent.

How long does a couple need to be married in order to possibly receive extra cash back at tax time?

If you are married at end of the tax year, for all purposes that I can think of, you are considered as married for the full year. So even if you get married at 11:59 p.m. on December 31, you get all of the benefits (and burdens) of a couple who was married for the whole year.
