This depends on your definition of the word 'date'. Adults and minors can legally spend time together, go to movies, go to dinner, spend time at eachothers houses, etc. etc. You cannot be arrested for being friends (these are friend-like activities). What is illegal is participating in sexual activity with a minor, which is not limited to sexual intercourse itself. And the police will be glad to arrest you on a technicality (holding hands or something equally ridiculous). So yes, it is dangerous legally. To your specific question, Texas has similar laws to forty-eight others states (Mississippi has a different set of laws). It is illegal for an adult (18+) to participate in the above activities listed with a minor (under 18). Even if the girl is two hours away from her 18th birthday, it is still illegal. I would strongly suggest waiting, considering said female will be 18 in less than one year, to do anything that is illegal or could be CONSIDERED illegal (and remember, those are two different things). I know Texans are tight on their laws and dating, in the general sense of the word, is dangerous for both individuals involved.
