Transfer? You're implying that defending your country is taken so glibly that fighting for a nation other than Canada would be even acceptable to Canadian soldiers? To answer your question... No. The oath a Canadian Military personnel take is not "transferable" to Another Country. Will the US Army take non-citizen recruits? Yes. Just walk in and sign on the line.

They can but the rank changes and they also have to apply. Benefits cant be transferred from the us army to the Australian. Also benefits from Australia don't quick in as the soldier has to apply for residency with the same rules as everyone else and it can take years and years.

The only way a Canadian can serve in the US Army is if the US and Canada fight a battle together, that way all the soldiers are the same/equal. But other then that, if you are Canadian and want to serve in the US Army you must become an American.

Should you join Canada's or the USA's military?

Unless you're a dual citizen you don't have a choice - you need to be a citizen of the country to serve in its military. The above is actually only true in regards to the Canadian Forces - they require you to be a Canadian citizen. You can join the US military as a foreign citizen, provided you've established permanent residence in the US, and have declared an intent to become a US citizen.
