Generally no, the Game Boy can't be used as a GameCube controller
However, there are a few games (ie. The Wind Waker, Four Swords Adventure) that do have Game Boy Advance connection, where you can use a GBA connector and use the Game Boy Advance as a controller, but this limited to a handful of games

Actually, the Nintendo Gamecube was released in 2001. And the Wii is the successor of the Gamecube and can even play Gamecube games as long as you have a Gamecube memory card and controller. But if you want only a Gamecube console, you would have to go to a used game store.
