A timely question considering the anything-but-saintly Dominque ( both a male and female name in French!) I well remember the song. The Chancellor of theExchequer corresponds to the Secretary of the Treasury. This is the head of the Treasury department. Nothing remotely religious in his or her job functions. I don"t see any problems. We have Catholic politicians, also separation of Church and State. I can"t see any A priori conflicts.
