Can a baptist preacher marry-divorce-marry again and divorce again and still be a preacher?

in my opinion, yes, but he wouldn't be someone i would listen to; id find a different preacher.

Why would you not listen to him? Have you read the book of Jeremiah? Chapter 3, verse 8 reads:


I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery.


God has been divorced. Biblical law clearly states if your wife has commited adultery then you are free from the law of marriage and therefore you could be divorced and marry again without any wrong doing.


Next consider the woman at the well. This woman had been divorced 5 times. FIVE. Jesus, the Word made flesh, chose this woman to reach her whole town. I'd be careful in not listening to someone because of what they've done in their past. The worst offenders against God (think of Paul) are generally the ones that God uses to do His best work.


Now, as I understand it, and my understanding is very limited, according to Baptist doctrine, no, you can not be a Baptist preacher if you have been divorced. Just keep in mind, denominations are man's invention, extra rules we've added on along the way.

In most Bible-believing churches, if one is divorced from his wife, one cannot be a pastor or being licensed to preach. However, if his first wife dies, and he remarries, it does not prevent becoming this call to service, as long as other Biblical qualifications are met.
