yes it can y Bettas can live in half a gallon but, I would recommend getting a larger tank. 1-5 gallons (or even larger) would be ideal. Your betta would love the added space, and with plenty of love, live longer.

-Raz Yes! Definately! When I got my betta they were kepping her in a tiny little box that had a divider in the middle, separating her from another fish and she was swimming around happily! We took her home and put her in a large bowl with some decorations and she was swimming around all over the place, happily enjoying the space!

Male beta fish are very territorial. Two male beta fish cannot live in the same tank or they will fight. Male betas make bubble nests to mark their territory.

What tye of fish can you put in the tank with your beta?

I have kept fancy gold fish that are around 2x-3x bigger then the beta fish in a 10 gallon tank. There are stories of fish being ripped apart. If you watch the tank after adding a beta you should be able to find out quickly. The less crowed the tank the better. Betas are very territorial of space.
