Yes. Even though you see them in tiny containers in pet stores, they actually enjoy wide open spaces and lots of fun things to go under, hide behind and just explore. They will live much longer if you keep them in tanks and I therefore highly recommend putting your fish inside this big tank of yours. They, however, can live happily inside smaller bowls, or tanks, but they will only live for 1 or 2 years.

∙ 11y agoIf your betta is male, then he should remain as a solitary fish; you can add a few ghost shrimp, but male bettas are best left alone.

∙ 12y agoBetta's are solitary fish. But if you have a not-too-aggressive Betta then you can put him/her with some other community fish that don't have long flowing fins (Fancy guppies,etc.)
