Yes they can as long as they have a dog house, food and water as the above poster mentioned. However, during extremely hot or cold weather a lab SHOULD NOT be left outside. Why get a dog when it can't be part of the family. Dogs generally want to be part of the family when the evening comes. Let the dog be with you and then have a special place such as a laundry room or hallway where they can have a cushion to lay on. If you don't mind the dog being in your bedroom put their cushion there and let them stay in the same room as you. No matter how big a dog I had I'd never leave them outside for long periods of time and especially not during the night. Dogs that are left out (unless cold weather breeds such as the Husky ,etc.,) need to be indoors.
