If it's leaking coolant, then it's not a good idea to, unless you pinch off the lines to the heater core.
NO, man what collage did u go to, stupid r us
Hard to repair. Best is to replace it with a new one. Have to remove the core from the inside of the car.
Could have a clogged line feeding the heater core. Disconnect return hoses from the heater core and verify coolant is flowing through the core.
The heater hose connection is fully inside the engine compartment - so if you have leakage inside the car, chances are extremely high the core has sprung a leak. See "Related Questions" below for more
The heater core is behind the dash the passenger side of the car.
If you need a heater core, the one you currently have would be leaking. If the car is over heating or not getting warm enough, think thermostat.
The car either needs to warm up more so that the heat from the engine can be used to heat the interior of the car or a component in the heating is broken. There are many possibilities. The coolant level could be low due to a leak in the system. The thermostat could be broken. The heater core could be plugged. The water pump could be failed. The controls in the dash could be unhooked/broken.,,,,,,,
your heater core could be plugged check to see if the two hoses coming from the firewall of the car are hot if the top one is hot and one is not the core is plugged
The steam could be coolant from a bad heater core.
Sounds to me that the thermostat is in backwards.
this sweet smell sounds like you have an antifreeze leak in your heating/cooling system. most of the time it is the heater core
