You would use "park your car on" when referring to parking on a surface or open area, like a driveway or the side of the road.
Much better if you will just say car-park instead of park of car. It's kinda awkward when you say that and it's not right.

The reason to gear lock in park mode is so you're car wont roll back if your parked on a hill. If your e-brake cable snaps, the car will stop itself from rolling because its in a gear lock. Just make sure when you start you car to keep your foot down on the clutch until you but your car netruel.
If you're talking about the car park in Manchester (this is the only one I know of), it is two pounds.
