First of all, I seriously doubt that a car could run on methane. Methane is a gas.

Example: Methane is in our farts.

But if I AM wrong, and there is a way to use methane to power our cars, they probably found some way to have it combust and go through the engine, powering it. That is probably how.

Yes, many cars run using compressed natural gas, which is mostly methane.
