This is happening as I type my response. My cat, Medes, had a litter of 6 kittens three days ago. Yesterday I found one sqished flat. Today I found two more. These kittens were very much smaller than the two that are left. I read that a mother cat can sense defects and "sub standard" traits in their young, even if you cannot tell one from the other. She is very gentle and motherly toward the larger ones, although one of them is about as small as the dead ones. I also noticed that she appears to be neglecting the remaining smaller kitten. I may soon only have 2 kittens to contend with. I am not an expert, and I cannot speak for all the cats in the world, but my cat is killing the smaller kittens and letting the big ones live.

Can you get hookworm from your cat?

Humans generally do not get hookworm from their cat or dog. If the cat vomits or excretes worms and this is cleaned up immediately, it poses no risk to humans. The cat should see a vet for treatment. *If you have young children, it can be possible for the child to ingest a hookworm egg from the cat's feces or vomit. But that would mean the child has touched the vomit or feces and then put the child put their fingers into the child's mouth.
