There is a number of things but not knowing more you most likely got a vacuum leak
The idle control valve for your 1995 Nissan Maxima can be found on top of the engine. The idle control valve will be attached to the back of the injector fuel pump.
The IAC valve is mounted on the upper intake plenum (manifold)
on the right side of the throttle body
When an idle control value is clogged the idling speed of your vehicle will change. The car may also stall when you turn on the air conditioning.
Maxima Running RoughTry replacing the Idle Air control valve! I am having the same problem, and cannot find anyone who knows where it's located so I can take it off.UPDATE: The Idle Air Control valve is located underneath the throttle body. Remove the throttle body, turn it over, and voila! There she is.
First verify that you haven't got a clogged passage in the intake. Remove the valve and start the engine. If it starts and runs (possibly at an abnormally high idle) reasonably well, the passage is clogged and must be cleaned. Otherwise, put a new EGR valve on it. The valve itselt is not repairable.
Check the Park Avenue EGR valve for a clog. A clogged valve can cause a rough idle and stall at a light.
Your idle air control valve may be dirty or clogged, the fuel filter may need changing or the rpm is set to low.
This can mean a few things, my mate has the same problem with his Nissan maxima have it checked for a vacuum leak or a cracked valve.
# Idle speed incorrect # Fuel filter clogged and/or water and impurities in the fuel system # Faulty emissions system components # Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs # Faulty spark plug wires # Vacuum leak in the fuel injection system, intake manifold or vacuum hoses # Valve clearances incorrectly set
The idle air control valve is attached to the bottom of the throttle body. It is computer controlled and not manually adjustable, however if you are having idle problems it could be stuck or clogged. You should clean it when you clean your throttle body as part of routine preventive maintenance. You can remove it, run the engine, and verify that the valve moves.
The rough idle could be caused by a clogged egr valve or a stuck choke, among other things. Start by cleaning the egr valve then check the choke. Check the computer for possible codes to show other problems.
