yes it can cause smog test failure, check engine light will most likely pop up since it controls part of the vapor by filtering it.
A defective aspirator valve would unlikely cause a misfire monitor failure. It would more likely cause an air system monitor failure
Long term failure is normal. A short term failure is usually caused by something else. Overheating do to a misfire is a common cause.Long term failure is normal. A short term failure is usually caused by something else. Overheating do to a misfire is a common cause.
Age, carbon deposits, and driving an engine with a misfire.
P0302 is a cylinder number two misfire. Causes include spark plugs, injector, internal engine failure, etc.
Engine Misfire, Delayed Acceleration, Vehicle Won't Start, Car Runs Intermittently, Trouble Climbing Hills...
Misfire is usually caused by faulty wires or spark plugs or both. Throttle position sensor failure generally causes poor response to the throttle. That is poor acceleration, slow to return to idle and rough idle.
A blinking check engine light means an engine cylinder misfire has been detectedNot only a misfire, but a condition that could cause a catastrophic failure of the catalytic converter. The injector on the effected cylinder(s) will be shut off by the PCM
P0302, cylinder number two misfire. Possible causes include spark plugs, fuel injector, and internal engine failure.
The LS is prone to coil failure which leads to a misfire in the affected cylinder. A misfire due to a failing coil usually happens when the engine is warm and under load (low RPMs, accelerating or going uphill). The misfire may feel like a transmission problem because it causes the car to buck and stutter as though the gears were skipping or getting stuck briefly. The worse the misfire gets, the harder it will be to accellerate. Sometimes the misfire condition can be overcome by applying more RPMs or reducing the load on the engine. See my post about the valve cover leaking issues contributing to this issue.
I hope your barb was a misfire.
Start with a bad Spark Wire Followd by a new Distributor Cap and Rotor button. Pening that failure, replace the sparks.
It means that more than one cylinder has a misfire history. PO301 would be cylinder number 1 misfire. PO302 would be number 3 cylinder misfire.
