As the Adminstrator for a Medical practice I will tell you the LEGAL answer and then the PRACTICAL Answer:
LEGAL ANSWER:
So long as the Physician avows that his or her judgment is clear and un-impaired, he or she can, in many states and jurisdictions, continue to practice medicine and examine patients.
PRACTICAL ANSWER:
If you KNOW your Physician is taking morphine, a morphine-like drug or OxyCodone type drugs because he or she TOLD you-- consider the fact that the Doctor TOLD you of his/her own free will. And if they told WHY or for what they are taking the drug and you are comfortable with the reason (ie: pain releif from pain from cancer) then decide for yourself whether you continue to trust this person and whether you still feel comfortable with this person.
If you KNOW your physician is taking drugs of ANY kind and they did nOT tell you, but you see CLEAR evidence of impairment or unsettling behavior, then you should worry about Impaired Judgment. And if there is a risk of impaired judgment or the doctor's behavior makes you uncomfortable, trust your gut feeling and seek another physician and request your records to the new practice.
No, Percocet is not oxymorphone. Oxymorphone is a combination of oxycodone and morphine. Percocet is just oxycodone, except for 5's and 10's they also have acetaminophen in them.
Do the doctor's give you morphine while in labor
no ms contin is morphine sulfate and Oxycontin is oxycodone while mscontin will show up as an opiate the Oxycontin shows up as oxycodone
While the Nurse was comforting the patients the doctor gave them an injection.
In my experience, he makes patients wait.
No, you cannot. since hydromorphone is morphine with an extra oxygen molecule that allows it to pass through the blood brain barrier faster (much like heroin is actually morphine also but with an extra acetyl molecule), you will still have the same allergic reaction. try Oxycodone (percocet) or Hydrocodone (Vicodin) instead.
Both morphine and Percocet are used to treat moderate to severe levels of pain. The difference between them is that morphine acts on its own whereas Percocet is a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone.
The doctor praised her for being patient while waiting for test results.
wait at least 12 hours. usually after taking opioid such as heroin, fentanyl, morphine, hydrocodone you have to wait at least 24 hours. but ive found with oxycodone you only need to wait 12. no less than 12 though.
Extremely - a single 100mcg/hr Fentanyl patch (good for 48-72 hrs depending on the patient) is equivalent to an overall Oxycodone dosage of 202mg per day, or about 9mg Oxycodone every hour for 24 hours. The average Oxycodone dose is about 10-20mg every 6 hours. Fentanyl is the strongest opiate on the planet at 100x stronger than oral morphine. While it is normally used as an anesthetic, it's used in transdermal patches as a timed-release pain med for severe pain patients.
Oxycontin, also known as oxycodone, is generally safe to take while pregnant for short periods and at low doses. There is no evidence of risk to the child or mother under these conditions. However, if you take oxycodone regularly and become pregnant, make sure to check with your doctor.
