A house-broken adult dog can be left alone for hours but a puppy or young dog, although it can also be left alone for hours, should be contained in an area where it cannot do damage. If a dog is to be left alone outdoors, it should have adequate shelter from the elements provided for it. An adequate supply of water should be available whether inside or outdoors.
You can leave it in a crate for as long as you want. Whether you feed it or give i water will make it last longer but I recommend no longer than you sleep.
I would say 8 hrs. because that is the normal working shift, but if you are not working then I would say 3 or 4.
None. A dog should not be left alone for more than 8 hours, assuming it has water available.
I take my cocker about for fifteen minutes in the morning. I come home after eight hours and usually everything is OK.
You do realise that there are only twenty-four hours in a day, right? Generally, a dog shouldn't be left alone for more than four hours. My Labrador Retriever is seven months old and is left alone for four hours in the morning, then I will come home at lunchtime for an hour, then he will be left alone for another four hours before I finish work.
1 hour
Greyhounds shouldn't be left alone for long. They are animals that need a lot of exercise and attention. I would suggest not leaving your dog for any longer than 2 hours.
No dog should be left alone for more than 4 hours. Have someone walk the dog and check in and spend time with the dog if you'll be gone longer than that. Or, take the dog with you.
A dog can be left alone for several hours during the day with proper training and conditioning. A good rule of thumb for young dogs is that they can refrain from using the bathroom for one hour per every month of their age. So, a six month old puppy can be left alone for roughly six hours without needing to have a potty break.
My dog has monophobia when she is left alone in the house.
Dogs that are left alone for long periods, for example, when left alone at night, howl because they are lonely.
It depends on the dog. Although calmer breeds do better certain dogs require more maintenance than others no dog should be left alone for more than 24 hours. The dogs with calmer temperaments do better
because he needed to go man!
I dont think a dog or any animal should be left at home alone.Bring them to a kennel,or something.Leave them with a friend. It is very mean to leave them home alone. An if you do leave them at home for jus a few hours we found out that if you leave the t.v on they stay calm.
Any animal can have separation anxiety without proper training. You just need to train the animal that it is okay to be alone for a while. My dog can be left alone for more than 4 hours if need be. She has no problem being left alone. They just need to be reminded that we are always going to come back.
Very few dogs (of any breed) like to be left alone. If your dog howls when you are out (and disturbing the neighbours) try putting an old coat that has your smell on it, in the basket/kennel where your dog sleeps.
