a fish with white spotts that are all over the body and are not supposed to be there it usually means that the fish has ich and verry contagous illnes that occures in aquarium fish, i recomend that if you have any other fish in that tank that does not have these spots that you take them out and get medication for the infected fish. ( if not treated quickly the fish might die.)
To be honest it's not worth removing the fish go to your local aquarium store and ask for the best remedy for Ich aka Whitespot, it is a nasty disease but also easily treated, one of the best treatments i have found is waterlife's Protozin, however this can be hard on certain types of fish such as loaches if you have fish like this i recommend only a half does of that particualr medication however there are several different ones available
Yes, if untreated. It's a parasite that causes the white spots.
It will make the skin unhealthy, resulting in a rather painful death.
(yes, fish do have nerves, so they do feel pain)
There is an inexpensive treat for it though.
You just dump it into the water and it will go away after 2 or 3 weeks.
Do NOT put new fish in that water or give away other seemly unharmed fish,
since it is extremely contagious.
Your fish has white spots if it is sick. Also, it could have white spots if you do not feed it enough.
Your fish probably has Ich. Go to the pet store and buy a treatment for it ASAP.
Look at "why has my fish got white spots?"
If the fish is a Goldfish you check to see if the spots are only on the fishes gills and pectoral fins. If so the white spots are indicating that the fish is in breeding condition. If the white spots are visible on other parts of the fish then your fish probably has Ich/Ick/ Whitespot and you will have to use a commercially available cure normally available at the pet shop.
white spots on the body is one
If it has white spots (tubilcles) on it's gill covers (cheeks) and along the front of it's Pectotral fins then it means it's a male fish :-)
NO,BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE WHITE SPOTS ON THE BODY
they have white spots on them when they want to breed. NO YOU CAN'T MAKE THEM BREDD LET THEM DO IT ON THERE ON.
It depends... if it has started getting white spots, then yes. It's a disease.
Male Goldfish develop white spots on their gill plates when they are in breeding condtion. Folks who are inexperienced or unaware of this, see the white spots and jump to the wrong conclusion. White spot (Ich) does not confine itself to the gill plates and can be seen on the fins and the body of fish that are being parasitised.
Not a great white does not have spots
i have white spots on my cervics, what does that mean?
It may be. I would keep an eye on other fish ans see if the white spots start to spead if they do then I would immediately start a heat treatment to destroy the bug.
They dont always die and its probaly because of stress of two many fish, not enough hiding spots, or other fish or diseases. By the way sorry about your dead molly. Hope this saves some fish' lifes.
