The constitution doesn't allow for a person who is not native born in the United States to run for President.

This is not currently the case: Have you looked in the White House

--I am not sure who you are referring to, I have "looked in the White House Lately" and all recent presidents I can think of are native born. May be you are confused by the term, native born, it simply means that the President must be a citizen born in the United States, it does not mean that their entire family line must be. That would be absurd given the US was built by immigrant

To answer the original question, a foreigner can not become President, only a US Citizen can. The constitution states that to become president a person must be at least 35yrs old and be a natural born citizen (which simply means you were born in the US) and must be a resident of the US for at least 14yrs.

No. Any person running for president must have been born in the USA.

You are correct that a foreigner cannot be president, because you must be a US citizen by birth. However, your answer contains a common misconception. You do not have to be born in the US to be president, which is called native-born, but must be natural-born, which means either born on US soil or to a US citizen.

I think so... as long as you are a citizen of the usa.

GuntherK: No... Unless you get the Supreme Court Justices to come up with a warped (new) interpretation of the Constitution so you can finally be put into the election.

"No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

Only if you can convince a lot of people, specifically those with great legal and political specialty, that when it says "...or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution..." that it means at the time that this Constitution is being upheld/used, a foreigner can beome president. And all it takes is to get the Supreme Court to agree. So, yeah, Arnie can become president, if he gets in with the right people...

The US Constitution requires that president be a natural born citizen. This requirement was in the original constitution that the states ratified in order to unite the states into one county. It would be very hard to change it.

No. One of the requirements is that you are born here.
