Four years old is very young to be losing a tooth. I suppose a dry socket or some other kind of post-operative infection can occur. In any case, the child should be followed very closely by their dentist until it is completely healed.

What is a baby tooth?

A baby tooth is a tooth which will be replaced when it has been lost by the child to whom it belongs, and replaced with a permanent, adult tooth.

If you have a small cavity in a baby tooth that still has roots on it should you fill the cavity or pull the tooth?

The best thing would be to have a filling put in the tooth. But if the tooth is going to fall out soon, the dentist may recommend pulling it instead. Have it looked at by a dentist and then do what you think is best.Whatever you do don't pull it out yourself. See a dentist its not that bad, honestly..lolFill the ToothPulling a baby tooth too early can cause other teeth to move forward and cause misaligned teeth. It depends on the age of the child and which tooth it is. If the tooth is about to fall out, then pulling the tooth isn't a bad option. Some "baby teeth" stick around until age 11 or 12 or even 13 sometimes, so if it is a young child, pulling the wrong baby tooth could cause severe misalignment. You really need a dentist's opinion on this matter. If this is an adult patient with a retained baby tooth, and the adult tooth never came in, well they should probably keep the tooth because there is no "replacement" on the way.

Should a cavity in a baby tooth be filled?

How long does it take for a tooth to drop?

It takes baby teeth about 1-3 weeks to fall out. Pulling the tooth makes it worse and harder for it to grow in. -Unknown

No, The adult teeth forms separate from the child tooth. However if nutrition is not improved while the adult tooth is coming before the adult tooth comes in, there is a higher chance it will be weak and more prone to decay.

4 year old has decay in upper front tooth should tooth be removed or root canal?

If the tooth can be saved with a root canal (pulpotomy) or other treatment, it should be done. The adult tooth that will replace this baby tooth may not erupt until the child is six or seven years old, and the dental arch may shrink if the baby tooth is lost too soon. This will lead to problems when the adult tooth erupts and the child may require extensive and expensive orthodontic treatment to correct the problems.

Is tooth fairy a noun?

Is it rare to have a baby tooth as an adult?

not as much as you think. It actually happens quite often. when it does, you treat that tooth as a permanent tooth and fill cavities. You can even crown a baby tooth if there is no permanent tooth underneath it. If you have a permanent tooth under it, they usually extract the baby tooth.

If you have a baby tooth and an adult tooth is growing in front of the baby tooth would you need to remove the baby tooth?

This is very common in children where the adult tooth comes out behind or in front of the baby tooth. Sometimes the baby tooth becomes loose as the adult tooth comes out more and extraction is not necessary. If the tooth is not becoming loose, then the tooth should be removed.
