Oh my hamsters out now! Hamsters can remember a variety of things including... When it is time for hibernation, when it is dark, their name, You name it! They're not dumb like many animals that we all would call "dumb", like Nats, ants, turkeys, and birds!

∙ 8y agoActually, yes they can. Hamsters have excellent hearing as well as smell in order to make up for their poor eyesight. Say your hamster's name every time you give him/her a treat or food. You have to be consistent with this. The earlier you begin training your hamster, the better. But eventually your hamster will come when you call him/her thinking you have food for it. You can teach your hamster many tricks if you are consistent with it. You may teach them to stand, shake, or run through obstacle courses. Give it enough time and your hamster will jump through hoops for you! (literally) I'm sure there are other creative things you can teach your hamster to do. It's all a matter of devotion and time.
