Yes a horse can swat flys with a braided tail. They might get irritated or bruised though if they have a really thick or long tail. After braiding it, put it in a tail bag. If a horse keeps turning his head towards his braided tail, or takes to stomping his hind feet or pinning his ears, you need to unbraid the tail. Do not leave a tail braided for more than a couple days at most.
Also, you can use "fly spray" on the horse while it is unable to perform it's natural swatting functions.
to swat flies and express emotions
A horse moves by walking or running on all four of its legs and hooves. It uses its tail to swat flies or keep it self cool from the heat.
Yes it's true, but there is an exception for the Arabic horses. They don't die when you cut their tail.
Swat flies away
There are many things that can be made from horses tail. I've seen bracelets and rings made from horse tails. I had a friend who use to weave small baskets out of horse hair. And you can even use horse hair pulled from other horses to make natural looking extensions in a horse who does not usually have long manes or tails.Horse hair can also be braided into many different items, like whips tassels and with enough skill can even be used to make bridles or small, thin rope like items.
yaks
They swish it in the summer to swat flies away from them when it's hot :)
For the cow, the tail is very useful for swishing away flies and other pests. For humans, the tail can be used to make a rather flavorful soup (oxtail soup). The tail of a beef cow in particular has a decent amount of fat and some muscle on it so you can make beef broth from it.
In general, it is expected that you will have your horse's mane and tail braided while showing halter classes. It may not be specifically required, but the judge is likely to mark you down for not doing so.
Depends on how you ride. Dressage: a medium length with a clean cut. Hunter or jumper: Long tail, if mane is plaited braided.
its the thing that animals have, monkes use it to hang from branches, horses use it to swat flies.
It wouldn't. It might be pretty miserable when it can't swat flies.
