Platys are Xiphophorus sp. Mollys are Poecilia sp. As you can see they are of entirely different species and so obviously they can not breed with one another.
If it's in a tank with another platy of the opposite sex, it's mated. :P
They do mate! As long as you have 3 females with 1 male and you keep the tank well planted and at the right temp!
no. fish can only mate with fish of the same species. Gouramis mate with gouramis and platys mate with platys.
A Platy is a Platy it is either a Xiphophorus maculatus or X. variatus. Colour does not matter at all. They are all the same species and can interbreed. They can also cross breed with Swordtails (Xiphophorus helleri).
Yes.mollies and platties get along, but don't ask me if they mate yet i finding out myself.
Molly fry and platy fry are both types of baby fish from different species within the same family, Poeciliidae. Molly fry tend to be larger and may exhibit a more elongated body shape compared to the generally smaller and rounder platy fry. Additionally, molly fry often have a more varied coloration and fin structure, while platy fry are typically more uniform in color and pattern. Both require similar care in terms of water conditions and feeding, but their growth rates and adult sizes differ significantly.
first of all the platy fish smaller than the molly and has different colors than the molly's so fry platy will be red if the parents are red or blue if the parents is blue and smaller while the molly fry is bigger than any fry with known colors .. black brown yellow white marble or yellow on black... so did u know = How do you tell the difference between newborn platy fry and newborn molly fry? =
what do platy fish look like because i want to get my male Betta fish a male platy fish mate and i need to know how big and what they look like so i can put them together please answer soon because i am going on vacation tomorrow want the fish mate by today so he's not lonely while i am gone thank you
Guppies first, then mollies, platies and swordtails all grow at about the same rate.
Mollies are larger and require more tank space. They also are very picky about water conditions and do well with some salt added to their tanks. Generally a more difficult fish to keep than a Platy.
Mollys can breed with any other type of molly fish
never because everyone called molly is a loner
