no. fish can only mate with fish of the same species. Gouramis mate with gouramis and platys mate with platys.
im pretty sure they will if the conditions are right
If it's in a tank with another platy of the opposite sex, it's mated. :P
They do mate! As long as you have 3 females with 1 male and you keep the tank well planted and at the right temp!
A Platy is a Platy it is either a Xiphophorus maculatus or X. variatus. Colour does not matter at all. They are all the same species and can interbreed. They can also cross breed with Swordtails (Xiphophorus helleri).
Yes. Sort it out mate.
You breed platies by putting a male and female together and they should mate in their own time. When buying your platies ( i am telling you from experience) look at a female that you like though also try to find a pregnant one so your will have fry soon. if it is pregnant there is a chance that she will have more broods without having to mate again for a while.
what do platy fish look like because i want to get my male Betta fish a male platy fish mate and i need to know how big and what they look like so i can put them together please answer soon because i am going on vacation tomorrow want the fish mate by today so he's not lonely while i am gone thank you
No. They are two different families of fish. Even fish within the same genera can't always interbreed.
If a female rabbit doesn't mate with a male rabbit, technicly no. If she does however, it's possible.
When females are pregnant they start to Mate
Its quite hard to mate different species of fish. Both mollies and sqordtails do get pregnant easily especially mollies which are pretty much always pregnant like mine. Well it isn't impossible but is very unlikely that they will because of their species. If you want fish fry put another female or male mollie in their (depending which sex) and they will reproduce like mad! Hope i helped
