after the baby hamster has been handled for a while sometimes the mother hamster will eat their young so be "careful".
the mother might reconize her baby. but the child will not. it really depeands on how long they have been separated. if the does reconize her baby she might want to protect it by eating it. the baby might want to fight the mother. so it might not be a good idea unless they have seprate cages. from Kennedy age 11
When being separated, is it a bad thing to talk on the phone or even go places together? Whether you are sure to stay separated or not.
It really depends on the breed of hamster. Dwarf, Russian and Chinese are sociable and live together well, but syrians can often kill the offspring soon after birth if they are not separated. If the hamsters are Dwarf, Russian or Chinese, the hamster is probably the runt of the litter, and is being picked on as he is considered to be a waste of space to the parents. I'd try separating the baby from the rest, and taking care of it seperately, but make sure you know how to do this. If the hamster is syrian, do the same, but separate the father hamster too, as he could kill the mother and the child. Consult your breeder, pet shop owner or vet for more information.
There is a product called "kitten milk replacement"(KMR), and if you use it, there being no guarantees, the baby hamsters could live.
Sometimes.
That depends on your relationship.
Phillip and his mother became separated when the ship they were traveling on was torpedoed by a German submarine during World War II. Phillip was thrown overboard and eventually washed ashore on a deserted island, while his mother boarded a lifeboat and was unable to find him before being rescued.

"Wicked" is a human opinion. The pup is not being "wicked" - it is being a pup, a tiny animal with no experience of what is expected of it. It may be alone in the world - is it separated from its mother?
