Not really, although some Greek Orthodox accept them by 'economia' which means by dispensation or by making an exception to the rule. However, many Orthodox do not regard a Catholic baptism as valid, because Roman Catholics no longer baptize; they now sprinkle with water.

The word baptize comes from the Greek word 'baptizma' which means to immerse and completely cover in water. Sprinkling with water is called 'aspersion', but it is not the same as a baptism.

An Orthodox baptism is recognized by all Catholics, but Catholic baptisms are not recognized by all Orthodox.

Baptism by triple immersion has been the tradition of the Orthodox Church for the last 2,000 years, but the Roman Catholics stopped performing baptisms in 1545 when the Council of Trent made aspersion the official position.

If a Christian from another denomination decides to be Catholic, he doesn't need to be baptised again because it is pretty much the same baptism in all the denominations, they all follow the same words which Jesus gave.

A priest should be the one baptising. Regular people can only baptise in an emergency when the person is about to die.

You have to say:

"I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

That was what Jesus told us to say to baptise.

A Catholic (Preferably a priest, regular people can only baptise in an emergency) can baptise any child as long as the child is not baptised yet. If the child is baptised into any Christian faith, they cannot be baptised again in the Catholic church.

This is because all the Christians believe you get cleansed of original sin and become a Child of God.

No, because the sponsor (godparent) has to pledge to raise the baptized (child usually) in accordance with the catholic faith, and an Orthodox person cannot do this. However, if the catholics accept other denominations to baptize catholics, that is up to them.

Yes of course! The Orthodox Church welcomes people of all backgrounds who wish to become members of the Eastern Orthodox Church. You will need to speak to an Orthodox priest or bishop first, and then they will advise you about the procedures and whether a period of catechism (instruction in the Faith) is required before a baptism can take place. You can go to either a Greek Orthodox Church or an Antiochian Orthodox church to begin the process.

I was baptized a Roman Catholic but confirmed Orthodox and I married a Greek Orthodox can I have my nephew baptized in a Catholic Church?

Since you are confirmed Orthodox and married a Greek Orthodox, the Orthodox Church requires that any children you may have should be baptized Orthodox. Also, as an Orthodox, you are not allowed to baptize your nephew or any other person in a catholic church. From the Catholic point of view, unless your nephew is to be reared a Catholic, he may not be baptized in the Catholic Church. If he is to be reared Catholic, either by his parents or godparents, the Church will receive him. No you are GREEK orthodox u must not I reapeat not baptisma your child at a catholic church.

If you are married in the Russian Orthodox Church is it possible to be married again in a Roman Catholic Church?

Assuming no divorce has taken place, which would require an annulment, yes, if you have changed from Orthodox to Catholic it would be possible to renew your wedding vows in a Catholic Church. There would be no need for a full blown wedding, however, as the Catholic Church does accept the sacraments of the Orthodox Church as valid.

Can a divorced greek orthodox woman marry a catholic man in a catholic church if her first marriage was annulled by the greek church?

The answers is no, if he wasn't divorced, yes, because the catholic church recognises the orthodox church as valid since they were one church before. However if he is divorced he is not allowed in either catholic or orthodox. A Catholic can marry any non- Catholic, and it is recognized as a sacrament in the Catholic church. Only when the individual has been previously married there is an issue. In which case that individual must have their previous marriage annuled. The Catholic church permits Catholics to marry in the Orthodox church and it is a sacrament. I have spoken to Catholic priests and Catholic Bishops and they do not see a problem with a Greek annulment, as being an impediment. If that individual did not have their marriage previously annulled than it would be an issue.

How does The Orthodox Church baptize?

Yes, the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church does baptise members. Unless you are a baptised member, you cannot receive Holy Communion, or any other Mysteries of the Church. The word 'baptize' means to immerse in water. The Orthodox Church continues this Apostolic practice of baptising by triple immersion.
