No, Swine Flu is a virus and must be caught from someone or something which is carrying it. It does not just spontaneously materialise in a body.

If you are around a person who is not exhibiting flu symptoms but comes down with swine flu 3-4 days later are you exposed to swine flu?

A person can be contagious with a virus like the flu for a day or two before they even notice their own symptoms. So if you are around them during that time frame and in close or direct contact with them, the potential exists for you to come down with the flu.

What is the Swine Flu reproductive cycle?

Swine flu is a virus and viruses reproduce by injecting it's own DNA into a host cell and then that cell is corrupted and taken over and becomes a flu cell. =]

What is the name of the virus that causes influenza?

Influenza is caused exclusively by viruses in the Orthomyxoviridae family.Viruses are not true cells and are metabolically inert until they are attached or inside of a host cell of a plant or animal (including humans).

Do you have to be dirty to get Swine Flu?

Well, yes and no. The reason washing hands often is recommended to avoid getting the swine flu is that the virus is easily picked up on your hands from surfaces and things other people who have the flu have touched. They can leave behind particles of the virus that causes swine flu that you can get on your hands (but you won't be able to see them). If you wash your hands after touching things and surfaces in public places, before you forget and touch your own face, mouth, nose, or eyes, you can wash off the virus particles and then not get sick. But dirt, like soil and mud is not what they are talking about. You can also get swine flu just by hugging, kissing, touching, or shaking or holding hands with another person with the flu. Or you can get it if you happen to be very close to them (within about three feet) when they cough or sneeze and they spray respiratory droplets with virus in them onto you or in the air that you breathe in.

If swine flue comes from pig why do people eat pig?

You pretty much answered your own question. That is why its not called the swine flu any more. It is not in pigs, it has evolved from pigs. It is called the H1N1 virus because it attacks the hemagglutinin protein receptor (H1) and neuraminidase protein receptor. (N1) The swine flu has evolved and it is classified into many types such as the H3N1, H3N2, H1N1 viruses. The term swine flu has led to many countries, Egypt for example, to unecessarily slaughter thousands of pigs which have could have been kept alive (a little longer) for food, or manure or whatever else pigs are good for.

Is every case of the flu going to be called swine flu?

No there's still ordinary cold and ordinary flus. And it's H1N1 not swineflu anymore. Itś on it's own and is not related to swineflu among pigs. They just thought that in the beginning.

If you have been off with diarrhea is this Swine Flu?

If that is the only symptom, probably not. The flu will attack the respiratory system and only in some cases cause diarrhea or vomiting. If a cough, fever, or other symptoms of the flu begin, contact a health care professional to ask if it could be the flu and if you should be examined to be sure.Diarrhea can be serious on its own, though. So be sure to replace lost fluids with extra water or sports drinks. If you begin to get very weak or dizzy or dry lips, tell your doctor.See below for the related question that gives the symptoms of Swine Flu.

What type of immune cells are in the Swine Flu?

None. Swine flu is an illness caused by the pathogen known now as swine flu virus, A-H1N1/09 influenza. The illness contains no immune cells, nor does the virus. Your body responds to the presence of the virus with an immune response that sends your own immune cells to the area of your body where the flu virus has invaded. It is your body's immune cells that enter the "fight" and eventually get rid of the virus by constructing the type of immune cells called antibodies that are a perfect fit to inactivate the specific virus so it can no longer cause cell damage and symptoms of the flu. Your body then remembers the antibodies that worked to inactivate the virus so it can use them in the future if you are ever exposed to that virus again.

How long after having swine flu before it is sensible to have normal social contact in your own home?

minimum 7 days, most people consider a full week to be the minimum time before social contact

Do you Have To Worry About The Swine Flu?

No. Not really. The doctors consider this a minor flu. If you catch the flu in its early stages then you would probably be able to survive with the antibiotics the paramedics give you. But sometimes the swine flu goes away on its own. It attacks weak immune systems. For babies it can attack them between the ages of 1 and 6. For elders it can attack between the ages of 60 and older. But be sure to go to the doctor immediately if you can not breathe or cannot hold out one part of your body for 5 seconds without it feeling tired while having the flu. But don't freak out over a little symptom for example: "Oh my God I sneezed!!! Ahhh! I have the swine flu!!!". No. You don't it's a sneeze. A lot of it is media hype. There are a whole range of flu viruses around the world at any moment in time and people do die from the flu, but usually people who have other factors, such as age or a weak immune system as already mentioned. This one may be a bit more serious, but even already they are saying it is not as serious as first thought.

When can your daughter go to school atfer swine flu?

The rule of thumb is that once she has gone a full 24 hours without a fever (without taking fever reducing medicine), she would be considered unable to pass the flu to others. Otherwise, it is a matter of how she feels. Check with the school first, because they may have their own criteria for determining when it is okay for kids with the flu to return to school.

What to do when you have swine flu?

From what I've been able to gather reading various reports and blogs (most recently Dr. Sanjay Gupta's own run in with the virus) there's nothing much TO do.Swine flu is much like the regular flu in it symptoms and its remedies. Dr. Gupta for instance was only given Tylenol and fluids. That's it. But in 3-4 days he was right as rain.Others who comment on Dr. Gupta's blog entry said more or less the same thing. One woman and her daughter both contracted swine flu and after 3 days of bed rest and over the counter meds was fine.So when you get swine flu one should do the same thing you do when you catch the normal seasonal flu, unless of course you have a pre-existing condition that would make you particularly vulnerable to complications. But if you're an otherwise normally healthy individual I'd recommend chicken soup, a thick blanket and plenty of Nyquil.
