Students must complete a certain number of days in the school year to be able to pass the class no matter how good their test grades are. There are also factors other than just knowing the material. Class participation, attitude and knowledge are all factored into the overall grade. If the student is not in class to add up the other factors for each day, those factoring items are marked at zero. It doesn't take too many zero's to bring a grade down. Test scores are only a fraction in a students total grade for a class.

A principal can recommend a student for expulsion based on criminal complaints, but a formal decision is typically made by the school board or district administration after due process. Expulsion proceedings usually involve a hearing where the student can present their side of the story.

Yes.
Try approaching the student council, if you have one. They will be the ones to talk to the principal.
At a school, the student council (a part of the student government) is a group of students who are elected to represent all of the students in a school or university. They deal with issues that affect the students, and they sometimes negotiate with the administration (the principal and vice principal of a high school, for example) to handle problems the students are having.
There are many conversations in the English language between a principal and a student. They can have a conversation about school work, grades, or just general chit chat.
Ask for permission.
