It depends on the BIOS setting. It's extremely unlikely to catch fire: normally the contact pins fuse into the socket and lose connectivity first. Most modern motherboards have heat sensors under the CPU which power-off the system as soon as it hits 70 degrees Centigrade.

What does the CPU fan unit do in a computer?

The fan unit helps keep the critical components of the computer cool to prevent overheating (i.e. processor, hard drive, motherboard, etc). The processor is especially susceptible to overheating and can actually melt a little if it gets too hot, ruining the processor and the entire computer.

What brand of fan should I use for a computer that overheats?

Thermal take is a very good brand to prevent processor's from over heating. Many of there model's are designed to be used with processor's that are overclocked (causing them to run hotter).

What is thermal paste and why is it important in computer cooling?

Thermal paste, also known as thermal compound, is a high-conductivity material used between a computer's CPU or GPU and its cooling solution, such as a heatsink or water block. It helps to fill any microscopic gaps between the two surfaces, providing a better transfer of heat from the processor to the cooling solution. This in turn helps to prevent overheating and improve the overall performance and longevity of the computer components. It's important to use a high-quality thermal paste to ensure optimal cooling performance and to protect your computer components from damage.

Where is the CPU located in the computer?

Most motherboards are the same in this regard. Your CPU should be less than 2" away from the back panel of your motherboard (Where your keyboard, mouse, USB devices, etc plug into) inside of your case. It will be covered by a heatsink (Metal fins, square aluminium box with fins, etc) and usually a fan. This shouldn't be removed unless you have thermal grease to reapply to your CPU, or if you're removing the CPU permanently.

What is the importance of the computers fan?

Basically what a computer fan do is pull the heat from the heatsink that is connectted to the CPU and escorts it out of the computer,, because if the CPU gets to hot then the computer just stop working.

What is the big thing that protects the CPU?

You must be referring to the CPU heatsink/fan assembly. Modern CPUs generate so much heat that it is necessary to provide cooling in order to prevent damage. The heat sink is a metal piece which mounts directly on top of the CPU, through physical contact the heatsink draws heat from the CPU into itself. The top of the heatsink is designed to have as much surface area as possible in order to maximize heat dispersal. Usually a fan is then mounted on top of the heatsink in order to further increase its cooling ability.

Why cooling furn in processor of computer?

Assuming you meant 'cooling fan' - It simply to prevent the processor overheating. Modern processors perform tasks at high speeds - producing vast amounts of heat. The internal circuitry of a processor includes of microscopic strands of wire. If they're not cooled by a fan - the heat generated can actually melt the circuits of the chip !

What is choice guard?

Choice Guard is a program from Microsoft that is automatically installed on your computer. It is meant to manage your apps and prevent outside programs changing your defaults settings like your home page.

How do you clean the fan of the Intel Duo Core?

If processor is getting hotter than normal, then you may need to clean the fan mounted on the processor heatsink. For this you will have to shutdown the machine disconnect the power and other cables and open up the computer carefully. To prevent damage to electronic parts inside computer it is recommended that you use a grounded ESD wrist strap or touch a metal surface regularly while you work on motherboard. You will have to carefully remove and clean the fan and heatsink with a fine brush or a blower. You can also use a pressurized air can if available with which you may be able to clean fan and heatsink even without removing these from the motherboard. Good luck. To clean any fan or any other computer components for that matter you can go to an office supply store such as staples and buy what's known as a can of compressed air. They cost around $10. Open up the computer on the side which faces the fan, usually the right hand panel when looking at the tower from the rear forward. Attach the provided air needle on the end and be careful not to tilt the can as a very cold liquid can accidentally come out if the can is improperly handled, so read ALL instructions beforehand. Aim toward the fans and spray air at it, just enough to clear the dust. NEVER EVER wipe computer components of any kind with a sponge/cloth and soap and water, they can be easily ruined that way. Using compressed air is one of the top ways to clean your CPU and its components.
