With no water no heat can be transferred through the heater coils.
Assuming you are referring to a car radiator, there are of course a variety of manufactures that make a "stop leak" out there and depending on how bad the leak is ultimately I would advise taking it to a qualified mechanic (if finances permit) and have the leak fixed professionally. Alot of these things on the market to stop a radiator leak are only temporary at best. They weren't meant to be a permanent fix. Reason being, the radiator builds up alot of heat to the point that any kind of putty type stuff or even one that you put directly in the radiator that is suppose to plug up the leak from the inside will eventually give out due to the amount heat. Basic science: Heat expands things. Maybe not the answer you were looking for, but .
If the radiator was not fitted in properly or the pipes were not attached correctly, the radiator would leak.
you had a leak. you poured a $5 can of high tech bubble gum into your cooling system. You are happy with what it did to the radiator. you are not happy with what it did to the heater core ( the other radiator) that is in your dash unit. Kind of a bad trade, wasn't it?
Unless your radiator has a leak, the radiator fluid stays in the radiator.
A bad radiator is a radiator that is leaking or clogged. If you are loosing coolant then you have a leak that should be easy to find if the leak is at the radiator. If it is clogged your engine will overheat.
For radiator leaks look for the following signs: The car will overheat Coolant level will frequently drop Pool of coolant or water under the car radiator Obvious leak noted from radiator on starting the car Faulty radiator cap causing the leak
IF THE LEAK IS FROM THE RADIATOR, THERE IS NO FIX EXCEPT TRY THE RADIATOR STOP LEAK CANS OF FIX....IF THAT DON'T WORK, GET A NEW RADIATOR. THAT'S ALL YOU CAN DO!!!!!!!!!!!
There may be a hole in the radiator?
Because you have a coolant leak. More than likely, from your description, it is a leak in the radiator or radiator hose. Do not let your vehicle overheat. Remove the radiator and replace it or have it repaired by a professional radiator repair shop. Go to Autozone buy STOP LEAK and pour it in the radiator or they have GLUE for leak problem.
A small leak in a head gasket. When the engine is hot the head expands and the leak opens up. When the cooling fan comes on it removes some of the heat and the leak closes back up. This will not last, the leak will get bigger and leak all the time.
check fluid level first if too low you will have air in the system and no heat check for leak or faulty radiator cap
