Rattlesnakes have venom glands, not poison glands. They cannot remove these glands and would not have reason to do so. The venom glands are what makes it possible for them to catch food and defend themselves from predators.

Rattlesnakes do not have poison, they have venom. Yes, this venom can kill if prompt medical treatment is not sought. With proper antivenin treatment, deaths are rare.

The venom ducts can be cut by a trained person and this will render the snake defenseless. The venom glands can also be removed but this causes deformation of the snake's head.
