This answer applies to the UK. As you say Student I'm assuming that the person is attending school and is on transport provided by the education authority. The education authority contract with the operator is very unlikely to allow a driver to kick a student of a bus not at that students designated bus stop. Under this situation it is most likely that the bus operator has a duty of care of the student and must transfer that duty of care to the parent or student at the pre-designated drop off point.
In Ohio, the driver of any vehicle approaching a school bus stopped in order to pick up or leave off a child, must halt at least ten feet behind or in front of the school bus. The driver must not proceed until the school bus moves forward or the school bus driver signals the driver to go ahead. A driver who violates Ohio traffic laws concerning stopping for school bus may be fined up to $500.

The driver. You can close the door on your way off

until they enter their home Another View: I think not. Considering that not all school buses deliver their riders directly to their residences. They are responsible until such time as the driver sees them safely off the bus and the bus moves off continuing on its route.
