well i have one and i am going to get it removed the seventeenth but the skin on the cyst keeps peeling and the bump has gone down so much that im not sure I'll need it removed. i hope that helps a little!

No, it is not a "disease". You can't die from it, nor does it usually restrict activity. My cyst has been on my wrist for a few months now, & it doesn't hurt or anything. So, a cyst is really nothing to be afraid of unless you want to remove it for cosmetic reasons. I also had a friend who had a cyst on her wrist, and one day when she was lifting herself up into an attic her cyst popped. She said that she didn't even know it had popped until she looked at her wrist, she hadn't felt anything! So if a cyst does manage to "pop" on its own it won't be painful.

An ovarian cyst would not be considered a pre existing condition. You should have no problem getting an insurance plan.

Good question. Your doctor probably should have explained this one a little more. From the question, it just sounds as though you are going to have an ovarian cyst removed, yes? If that is the case, they are not going to remove the ovary the cyst is attached to. Just the cyst. No worries, every woman gets every type of cyst EVER. They usually tend to go away on their own, but if they are too big or you have endometriosis, they would prefer removal. (There is no way to tell if you have endometriosis unless you have had a removal surgery before).
