Most sinus infections are viral, but they can also be caused by bacteria or fungi.
The sinus infection is likely bacterial if it persists for 10 days or longer, or if the symptoms worsen after an initial improvment.
If it does persist more than 10 days, or if accompanied by pain or high fever you should consult a doctor and you will most likely be given antibiotics.
If the affected is a child or elderly, or has any other health issue, go to the doctor sooner.
