It depends on where you live in 2002 Britain made it illegal to marry half and step brothers or a step parent. i know its also illegal in Germany, Italy are more relaxed but you need to check in Britain you can serve up to 7 years and in Germany it's anything over 3 years. there should be a place you can go to and find out from a qualified lawyer or something. if you do marry then good luck and my best wishes. I'm happy you got something good out of a potentially bad thing!

potentially bad?

If both of you have different parents then you should be able to marry each other. Half-brothers are biological brothers and that would be incest.

Foster relations (suckled by the same woman) also have a biological aspect to it and one is not allowed to marry their foster-bro/sis.

No they can not even if they are stepsister and stepbrother. The court will not allow it as the children will suffer problems.

Yes. Step siblings have no legal relationship to each other that would prevent a marriage in most countries.

Nephew: your sibling's son (from your brother or sister); sibling: your brother or sister (from your parents). Because your brother or sister cannot also be your parents, and vice versa, your nephew cannot be your sibling. If one of your parents mates with one of your siblings, the resulting child would be a step-sister or step-brother, having only one parent in common with you.

Is a step sister the same as a half sister?

Half-brother/Half Sister:You and your Half-Sibling have a common mother OR father (but not both, obviously). Hence you share a biological and social relationship with your half sibling.Step-brother/Step-sister:You are not related to your Step-Sibling in a biological way. Your mother/father is married to one of the Step-Sibling's parents and this is the basis of this social relationship.(A Half-Sibling shares one parent biologically; a Step-Sibling is by virtue of one parent each entering a marriage, with no blood relation.Your Step brother/sister is already a child of your parent's new partner.Your Half brother is a new child born to your parent and the spouce. )EXAMPLE :(Note children - John, Chris, Betty - are in italics for simplicity)Jack and Jill were married and they have a son John.Charles and Cynthia were married and they have a son Chris. Now both couples got separated and then, Jack married Cynthia and entered in their marriage as guardians of John and Chris. So now John and Chris are Step-Brothers (by virtue of the marriage... note John and Chris are not related biologically).Later on, Jack and Cynthia have a daughter of their own, Betty. Now Betty is a half-sister to John (since they have a common biological parent... their father Jack)Also, Betty is a half-sister to Chris (since they have a common biological parent... their Mother Cynthia)
