Best Answer

Transformers only work with alternating currents. So the answer is Yes, BUT it would have to be a DC Pulsing circuit. using flip flop circuit or a 555 circuit or chop circuit.

A transformer can only the voltage of an alternating current?

A transformer can only increase or decrease the voltage of an alternating current, and it is called step-up transformer or step-down transformer accordingly.

What type of device is used to increase or decrease the voltage of an electric current?

The device used to increase or decrease the voltage of an electric circuit is a step up transformer or a step down transformer respectively. A Variable Resistor

What is the difference between a current transformer and a voltage transformer?

A current transformer step downs the current in a power circuit to a lower amperage. A voltage transformer steps down the voltage in a power circuit, typically to 110 volts AC for residential and business use.

Does a step-down transformer increase its voltage and and decrease it's current?

No. A step-down transformer's secondary voltage is lower than its primary voltage. The secondary current is determined by the load, and this causes a higher current in the primary winding.

Which component slow down the current in circuit?

An inductive load can cause current to lag voltage in an AC circuit. An increase in resistance will decrease amount of current flow.

If you have a DC passing through a circuit will the current decrease when you add a DC motor and if so by how much?

In the circuit where the DC motor is added, it was not specified whether the motor was added in series or in parallel to circuit elements. If it was added in series, it will increase circuit resistance and it will cause circuit current to go down. In parallel, the motor will reduce total circuit resistance, and circuit current will increase.

How do you step down current?

by using current transformer

What is the name of the device that changes the ratio of a current in voltage?

A transformer. it steps up / down voltage, and steps down / up current.

How do you figure out maximum current of a 240V transformer circuit?

Your best bet is to go to Acme Transformer on the web and once you are on their web page select how do I rate a transformer, they have everything single phase 3 phase step up step down.

Is in ideal step up transformer current increase or decrease?

the current decreases.AnswerThe secondary current is determined by the secondary voltage and the load, not by whether the transformer is a step-up or step-down type. Once this is established, you can determine the primary current. Remember, the secondary current determines the primary current, not the other way around!

Is current transformer is a distribution transformer?

In transmission lines there is a massive current, we use CT to make this current measurable i.e. it steps down the current but DT is used to step down the voltage

Which type of tranformer in widely used?

There are basically two types of transformers:- a) step down transformer b) step up transformer a) step down transformer is mostly used in order to decrease the voltage of the line. As such we all know that - v= i/r , where v= voltage, i= current and r= resistance b) step up transformer. It is used to increase the voltage in the circuit. As such 'v' is directly proportional to 'i' and inversely proportional to 'r'. so loss of energy occurs here.
