I am not an expert on this subject, but I'm pretty sure it depends on your age. It also depends on what you mean by emanicpated. In other words, what would be your plan for housing, school, food, and clothing? When I was 16, my mother gave me my monthly support check from my bio father and was rid of me. I lived in my married friends backyard in a cottage for about a year. I used the kitchen and bathroom in her house. My teacher happened to live nearby, so I was able to get a ride to school most days, and I did graduate. My next question is do your parents support you leaving the house? Do they even know of your idea? You can always contact the "Dept. of Social Services," go talk to a Social Worker, and depending on your age, and the type of abuse that's occuring, They will either place you with relatives, place you in a Children's shelter, Foster home, some type of protective custody, while they investigate the situation. I hope you keep reaching out for help until you get it, and don't give up. Be a role model for other kid's who feel they are powerless to help themselves. Do call a Social Worker so he or she can hopefully get you some support. * Very few states have emancipation procedures for minors. Abuse is not grounds for emancipation it is a matter for the state's department of child protective services and they should be notified immediately. In lieu of contacting the state agency there are several independent organizations that will offer assistance to the person(s) being abused. National Council Child Abuse and Family Violence, http://www.nccafv.org National Child Abuse Hotline, 1-800-422-4453 or 1-800-252-2873. National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-7233, 24/7 from all 50 US states with translators available.
If you're in the US... A child saying he is emancipated means nothing (I can say I'm God, but that doesn't mean I am :). If the child actually is legally emancipated, then child support ceases.
Laws vary from state to state. Custody papers have nothing to do with it.
No. You are a minor with a child. Nothing more nothing less. To be emancipated you need to prove to a judge that you can support yourself and your child.
health means nothing to an average teenager
Nothing in the common household can measure one milligram, or one milliliter.
nothing..literally
Because they have nothing else to do, and they're lazy. Beer makes you crazy and abusive.
Yes, however, that does not mean landlords are required to rent to you. If their policy is not to rent to minors (even emancipated minors) there's nothing illegal about that.
You know how sometimes you get really bored and realize there's nothing to do?.............there you go
Emancipation is a matter for the courts and for the person (people) who do have legal custody of you. As your cousin does not have custody, you cousin has nothing to say about whether you can be emancipated.
i think children should be able to do whatever they want and if there parents do not have a relationship with them and the child has tried reaching out but nothing i believe that children can get emancipated if they have a place to live besides the streets and have a way of getting schooling and shelter and clothing, and food. No matter what age they are children should be able to get emancipated.
