The 3.3L engine for dodge is always a timing chain but they RARELY fail.
Typically a timing chain does not fail since it runs in an oil bath. Of course, any physical component of a vehicle CAN fail, but timing chains typically do not need to be replaced until you rebuild the engine. A good general rule is, replace the timing chain whenever you work on the valve assembly.
Normally a worn timing chain becomes noisy. That is the first sign of trouble ahead. It is very rare for timing chain to fail as they are designed to last the life of the engine. But, it is possible.
only when it begins to fail.
I just replaced the timing chain for my 2000 Camry. I did the same thing for my last Camry, a 1996. The timing chain goes after the water pump bearings fail and jams everything up. Then I had to replace the timing belt, water pump, and all belts.
The 6 cylinder Saturns were equipped with the "Ecotec" engine, which used a timing belt. Timing belts fail over time, and Saturn recommends that the belt be replaced every 100,000 miles. The 4 cylinder Saturns all used timing chains. With recommended service and normal use, the timing chain should not fail. It is recommended that you replace the timing chain and sprockets whenever the engine is rebuilt, but otherwise, the timing chain is considered to be quite reliable.
Timing chain. Almost all of the GM v-6 products have a timing chain. The DOHC 3.4 and some of the caddi motors are the only exception. I have never seen a 60* v-6 GM timing chain fail. But that doesnt mean you shouldn't replace them every 200k miles...
The 2012 Toyota Highlander is equipped with a timing chain, not a timing belt. Timing chains are generally more durable and do not require replacement at regular intervals like timing belts do. Additionally, the engines in the 2012 Highlander are of the non-interference type, meaning that if the timing chain were to fail, it would not cause damage to the engine's valves or pistons.

The 2005 Suzuki Alto is equipped with a timing belt rather than a timing chain. Timing belts typically require replacement at regular intervals, unlike timing chains which generally last longer but can still fail. It's important to check the vehicle's maintenance schedule for specific recommendations regarding the timing belt.
