That is similar to asking whether a television will work if supplied only half its power: while it may work somewhat, it is definitely not going to work properly and could actually cause irreparable damage. The card is not designed to run that way. Each of the PCIe power connectors supplies up to 75 watts of power. Giving it fewer watts than it requires could mean that you are running the chipset but that the cooling fans may not function, for example, which would lead to burning out the card. If you want to use the card, use both power connectors. In the long run, you will save yourself money.
