If the noise is coming from where the water pump is, it is a good chance the it is actually the timing belt tensioner. These things are notorious for making awful noises when they are beginning to go out and will get worse and worse. The same engines are in an Isuzu Rodeo with the exact same problem.
my 1995 BMW 325i is making a knocking noise after i replace the water pump
The water pump on a 1999 Honda Passport is located behind the timing belt cover. The radiator and timing belt have to be removed to access the water pump.
For my 2001 Honda Passport, I paid $420 to have the water pump and timing belt replaced in October 2008.
Yes Yes
Coolant weeping and noise.
The 2002 Honda Passport has a timing belt. This belt must be replaced every 100,000 miles. You should also replaced the water pump at the same time. Warning: This is an interference engine.
It is behind the timing belt coves and you will have to take the timing belt off to change the water pump out
The pump is set into the front of the engine block. You have to remove the timing belt to get to it.
It makes alot of noise and overheats, leaks out of bottom of pump
you might check the water pump before you do anything else.remove fan belt and check to see if there is substantial movement in pulley wheel and/or shaft on water pump. if this is not the problem, you have overheated engine and damaged bearings inside, which is where the knocking comes from
If when you turn a corner the knocking noise gets louder and more pronounced, then you have defective CV joints. The fact that the boots have holes in them, would indicate that water and dust has been able to contact the joints. This will cause them to self-destruct. This can be very dangerous, and if one breaks while you are driving you may have an accident. Replace th CV joints and replace the boots covering them.
check your water pump, check all your pulleys make sure their bearings are ok
