In order for you to have internet, the router should be connected to a cable modem or another switch or wireless router which already have internet access.

Is a wrt54g2 router compatible with the xbox360?

It depends on which wireless adapter you are using for your xbox. You should have G or N.

How do you hook up a WRT54G2 Wireless-G router?

Speaking from experience, it can be a difficult process. I'd recommend contacting Linksys for technical support, as some steps may get particularly advanced.

I have the linsys router WRT54G2 and an Xbox 360 with the Xbox brand wireless adapter The Xbox refuses to find the routers wireless signal yet my iPhone mac and PS3 have no problems at all Please help?

Does linksys wrt54g2 work with Windows XP and 7 at the same time?

Type of router you are using has nothing to do with type of operating system you are running. What matters is wireless network adapters. As far as OSes recognize wireless card (wireless adapter must be compatible with your wireless network) you should not have any problems.

Can you use the Linksys WRT54G2 Router for your PS3?

You can use any Linksys Router with a PS3. However, to get the most out of your PS3 for online gaming, you need to learn to set it up properly for Port Settings and Priority access. The WRT54G2 is a Wireless G unit, and the PS3's internal wireless adapter is also Wireless G. This means that the top speed you can hope to expect is only 54mbps, depending on signal strength, connection type, and overall network loading. If you wish to get the most out of online gaming and movie downloads from your PS3, you're better off going with a Simultaneous Dual-Band N router (e.g., a Linksys E4200, or one of the new EA series, or similar unit) and connecting a WES610N DB-N adapter to your PS3. The external WES610N connects to the PS3's Ethernet port, and by selecting Wired Connection in the PS3's network setup, it effectively bypasses the internal adapter, connecting to the E4200 at N speeds. Having an E4200, I typically see speeds on average of 300mbps, and it is noticeable when playing online. For Wireless N Routers, there are 3 types:Wireless N - Single band Wireless N standard Router, using overlapping frequencies of 2.4ghz and 5ghz to extend range.Selectable Dual-Band N - Wireless N Router allowing you to SELECT either 2.4ghz or 5ghz band for your network, but not both at the same time. Essentially it's useless, since it's pretty much the same as a regular Wireless N Router but more expensive, and you get nothing for the extra money.Simultaneous Dual-Band N - Wireless N Router that allows you to use both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands at the same time, in effect giving you 2 individual network bands in one Router. I've been recommending and using them since the first Draft DBN's appeared on the market in 2006; I still use, recommend, and install them for clients. For home online gaming, there is no better option for speed and flexibility. The 5ghz band typically operates at higher speeds, making it desirable for media streaming.Using Simultaneous DBN lets you prioritize and stream gaming data over one band and send other data over the other. An example would be if you were gaming online and others in the family were online at the same time downloading other files - the 2 bands don't interfere, and if you prioritize the gaming data so it has priority access to the router, it'll always have head of queue privilege for router access over all other requests. The feature to set this up is called Quality of Service, or QoS. I've added a link below to my popular long post on the subject from the Playstation Forums that explains Router setup for the PS3/PSN, and QoS in more detail with screenshots.Bottom line - connection speed=advantage during online gameplay. While most game servers have compensation for latency factors, the reality is that the game stream is happening so fast that it cannot completely compensate when the server is under load, or there are too many players with slow connections. The worst latency offenders typically get errors or are dropped completely, but many don't approach that bottom end, being fast enough to avoid being dropped, but slow enough to cause problems for everyone else. In some online games (e.g., Battlefield 1943) you can actually hear the change in latency while flying as the engine noise at top speed sounds slower than normal. Of course other planes stopping in midair and appearing halfway across the screen an instant later is another dead giveaway.....DB-N routers have come down considerably in price the past year. I've had N and DB-N routers since they've become available, and their price has typically been between 250 and 300 bucks. However, I recently got my 320N for about 140 at Costco. IEEE's highly anticipated and final ratification of the Wireless N standard also helped a great deal in bringing prices down.Currently, Draft Wireless AC Routers are on the market, but their drawback s that they only run on the 5ghz band, and most devices are still using 2.4ghz. While their increased speed is undeniable, adapters that match the Router speed typically lag behind in development.
