You most likely have a deviated septum.
This is most probably a cold which developed into brocnhitis and thus causing you to cough for such a long time. Phlemn is common with bronchitis and to solve it you should put your head under hot steam (shower steam) to open up your bronchi.

well, i am not a doctor, but i can say that from personal experience, yes it does. when you have a stuffy nose and are sniffing it up a lot it can give you a headache. Generally i get a eye ache and a head ache but i guess that it differs with every person! Hope this helps and that you feel better soon :)
It may have an upper respiratory infection - a cold basically. The noise you hear may be the snake trying to breathe through a stuffy "nose". You may want to get it checked out by a vet.
