First this is a "myth" and I would not recommend using alcohol in your child's hair or even your hair.
The fact is you need to get rid of lice and their nits (eggs) and the only way to do this is to find a treatment that will breakdown the lice's skeletal systems and the nits (nits have a protective shell like protecting them, which is why they are hard to kill or remove they also stick to the hair shaft or scalp with a glue like substance).
My kids got infected with head lice and the school nurse reccomended we use Lice Goodbye from Fairtytaleshaircare.com. It is their head lice removal kit and has no harmful chemicals. My kids are head lice free. I am very happy I found their product because I too was ready to try at home remedies like mayonaise, oliveoil, and alcohol treatments since over the counter treatments are so expensive and this is affordable! These home remedies don't work, don't waste your time and it will prob do more damage than anything else!!
