The 18 year old should "hold his horses," stay in the home and finish high school before moving out. There may be some provision (check with a lawyer) for paying the child--but it will not be enough to provide rent, food and so on.

Answer

In most jurisdictions an eighteen year old can legally move out. In most jurisdictions the father must continue to pay until she has graduated from high school. He must review his child support order to determine if the payments are to continue through college.

Why was Scrooge taken out of school to be an apprentice?

Does child support have to be made if the child is in boarding school and the custodial parent is not paying for the school?

Who is paying for the school? Is it a scholarship or a relative? As long as it is not the person required to pay child support it really doesn't matter. The child still needs clothes, uniforms, health insurance, all sorts of things. Sorry, you don't get out of paying child support based on where the kid goes to school.

How long do you pay child support in Nova Scotia?

For as long as the child is dependentYou pay child support in Nova Scotia for as long as the child is a minor and in school....ie - the child turns 18 but is still in high school until June of that year...you would continue to pay child support until the child graduates from high school. If the child continues on to post secondary schooling and lives at home with the custodial parent, the other parent continues to pay child support for the duration of the education process. However, if the child moves out to his or her own residence during the post secondary schooling process, the paying parent may then make the child support payments directly to the child.Hope this helps!Actually the age of majority in NS is 19, and under the divorce act you must continue paying while the person you support is still considered a "child of the marriage". basically until they are 19, if they are living with and under the care and control of the payee...even if they work and do not go to school, you will have to continue paying child support. You must have your child support order varied in order to stop the payments.

What age of child stop paying child support?

Ohio Law requires that Child Support continues until your child is both 18 years of age and finishes high school. If your child is over 18 years of age, the child support will continue if your child is enrolled on a full-time basis in an accredited high school; however, when your child turns 19 years of age, the child support will end. It is your obligation to inform CSEA of the emancipation.

Does the obligated parent have to continue paying child support when the child reaches 18 and continues their education if the child support order states child support will end at age 18?

It depends on where you are. In the majority of states in the US (maybe even in all of them), child support continues past 18 if the child is still in high school. In some states, child support can be ordered to continue during college.
