No. Unless the Church has changed in 20 years, you will have to get your marriage annulled by the Bishop of your local Catholic Archdioces. It will take a while and there is a lot of paperwork involved. If it is important to you and your future bride then approach the priest of your local parrish or the priest that married you and your ex-wife and discuss your wishes to be re-married in the Catholic Church and find out from him what you will need to do.

Yes, a man can marry a Catholic woman, even if he is not Catholic. The requirements for the marriage to be valid in the eyes of the Catholic Church are...

1.The Spouse that is currently Catholic must remain Catholic.

2.Any offspring that results from the union must be brought up in a Catholic Church.

Catechism of the Catholic Church: 1633-36

It is recommended that the Husband consider joining the Catholic Church, but it is by all means, not required. It will, however, lessen the amount of stress and "bring the confusion of Christian disunity into the home." Remember, the Catholic Church does not forbid mixed marriages, but for the marriage to be considered valid, you must follow the guidelines.

A special note to you... Your previous marriage must be annulled by the Roman Catholic Church.

God be with you!

Yes he can but the marriage will not be recognized by the Catholic Church and the person cannot receive sacraments in the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church considers that the person is living in an adulterous relationship.

Roman Catholic AnswerYes, you could marry in a Catholic church if the first marriage were annulled (a statement by the Church that no valid marriage ever happened). You need to speak to a priest as soon as possible.

Catholic marriages require an oath that any children be raised Catholic. While it is certainly possible to marry, the difference in belief and the demands of the Catholic Church will put significant strain on the relationship. Nevertheless, neither denomination forbids such intermarriage.

If the Catholic woman in question is very devout, she may require you to formally convert to Catholicism. If you do so, the fact that when you were a non-Catholic you had a divorce will not constitute any kind of impediment to your marriage to this Catholic woman.

If you do not wish to convert to Catholicism, then you have a religious disagreement with this Catholic woman. However, I don't know how religious she actually is, and perhaps this religious disagreement will not matter that much to her. You will have to discuss it with her. There are people who are described as "nominally Catholic" in that they classify themselves as Catholics, but they don't really care about Catholicism very much.

.

Catholic AnswerNo, not without a lot of work. The divorced non-Catholic man would normally still be viewed as married in the eyes of God, depending on his religion and his ex-wife's religion. For instance, if they had both been baptized, then the Catholic Church would view that marriage as a valid Christian sacrament. The only way in which he would be eligible to marry again would be if he proved that no valid marriage had ever existed in the first place, in other words, he would have to apply for an annulment. Without an annulment, he would not be eligible to marry again.

A Catholic must have his marriage witnessed by a Catholic priest. That is Canon Law and the constant teaching of the Church. Normally, this must be held in a sacred place (a Catholic Church, Cathedral, or chapel that has been consecrated by a Catholic Bishop. Anything out of this ordinary circumstance must be approved by the Bishop, and even a regular marriage in a Catholic Church must be approved by the pastor of that Church. In any circumstance, you are still going to need to talk with your pastor, he can explain the rules better and in more relevant circumstances than I can on WikiAnswers.

Answer:

The question can be answered in one of two ways. If the implied question is "... and still be in compliance with Catholic 'rules'" or "Are marriages between Catholics in locations other than Catholic churches legal"

With regard to the second interpretation, in a secular context a legally binding marriage can be performed between any two people who meet the secular marriage contract criteria if performed in accordance with the law (ie all the paperwork is in place) and a ceremony is is performed by the proper staff. The venue is unimportant. If facilities such as another denomination's church or temple are to be used and officiated over by that organization's clergy, their permission must be obtained.

If married can you be a priest?

In the Roman Catholic Church, it is required that a priest be celibate. This is to keep the priest from being distracted from doing God's will as a priest. However, if an Anglican or Orthodox priest who is married converts to Catholicism he is able to become a Catholic priest and keep his wife. In the Eastern Catholic Church though, the priests are allowed to marry though. Lutheran and Episcopalian Priests are allowed to marry as well.

Can a Catholic priest con-celebrate with an Anglican priest?

On September 18, 1896, Pope Leo XIII issued Apostolicae Curae, which was the papal bull on the Nullity of Anglican Orders (see link below). Thus, Anglican have no valid Orders and are unable to consecrate the Holy Eucharist. Notwithstanding that, an Anglican priest is not in communion with the Catholic Church and thus a Catholic priest would not be permitted to celebrate with them anyway.

Does it go against the Christian belief for a Priest or religious figure to date?

The word "priest" in a context of Christianity usually refers to a Roman Catholic clergyman. Catholic priests are sworn to celebacy, so they should not be associating with the opposite sex in a romantic way. There are other denominations (e. g. Anglican) that sometimes call clergy priests but do allow them to marry. Of course a single Anglican priest would be able to date while deciding WHOM to marry.

Can an Anglican Catholic priest say Mass at a Roman Catholic Church?

The Anglican Church is not called the Anglican Catholic Church, and the Catholic Church is not formally known as the Roman Catholic Church even though the Vatican is indeed located in Rome. Your question therefore would more accurately read, can an Anglican priest say Mass at a Catholic Church. The answer is, the Catholic religion does not allow Anglican priests to officiate at their rituals. The Anglican Church, despite being extremely similar to the Catholic Church in most respects, is nonetheless regarded by Catholicism as a heretical schism.

Describe one important difference between Roman Catholic and Anglican priests?

Easy, Catholic clergy are bishops, priests, and deacons who have been ordained into the sacrificial priesthood of Christ through the Apostolic succession, and thus carry Our Blessed Lord's mandate to minister to His people. Anglican clergy are protestants who lost apostolic succession and do not have a proper sacrificial priesthood. Please see Apostolicae Curae issued by Pope Leo XIII in 1896 on the validly of Anglican Orders:http://www.papalencyclicals.net/Leo13/l13curae.htm
